Iraq stands at a time of great need. The people face great challenges to foster democracy, preserve security and value human rights.

Iraq also is at a place of great opportunity. In a recent trip I took to Iraq I was overwhelmed by the flood of new businesses, information and ideas into Iraq. The latest craze was people buying satellite TV dishes to receive over 200+ channels from all over the world. Internet cafes are springing up all over Baghdad.

A great openness to the gospel currently exists in Iraq. Many of the churches I visited had doubled and tripled in attendance since the fall of Saddam. Many underground churches have come out and are meeting in buildings. I met some Christian workers, some who have had over 20 years or more on the field, tell me that they have never seen a people so open and receptive as the people of Iraq right now.

The International Iraq Prayer Campaign 2004 (IIPC) vision is to promote prayer and involvement for the people of Iraq during this crucial time in Middle East history.
